Dark Rock With Green in the Joints
Most tabletop rock fountains are pale gray, because pale photographs well on a white background. Pale also disappears on a pale desk. This one is dark mountain rock with green worked down into the joints, which means it reads as a shape against a light wall or a light surface instead of merging into it.
The green is in the joints rather than across the faces, which is where moss actually grows on rock. Painted evenly across the surface it would look like a coat of paint. Settled into the low points it looks like time.
The lights sit within the falling water rather than on the rock, so after dark the moving part glows and the dark stone stays dark around it. The basin is black with a chevron band pressed around it, which is the same base family as several of our other tabletop pieces.
