Setup, Care, and Warranty
Setup and placement
Fill the reservoir, plug it in, and it runs. No plumbing and nothing to bury. At 46.3 pounds two people make it easier, mostly because of the height rather than the weight.
Level it before filling. On stacked flat ledges an out of plumb base sends water off one edge of a slab instead of over the front, and on six tiers that compounds downward.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the reservoir to cover the pump at all times. Water spread across six flat ledges is exposed to more air than a single stream, so check the level every few days in warm weather.
Clear leaves off the slab edges. On a flat ledge a leaf sitting on the lip diverts the whole fall to one side, and you will hear the change before you find the cause.
Looking after the moss detail
The moss accents are part of the finish rather than living growth, so treat them as you would any applied surface. Use a soft brush and water, and keep harsh liquid cleaners away from the joints where the detail sits. In hard water areas a pale film builds along the wet edges and is easier to remove before it sets into the texture than after.
Winter storage
Before hard freezes, drain the reservoir and every ledge pool completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and let the piece dry out. Water left standing between stacked slabs through a freeze and thaw is what causes damage.

Questions Before You Choose
How is it different from the overhanging ledge fountain at the same price?
Both are 40.5 inches and cost the same, and they answer different questions. That one uses irregular cantilevered ledges so water falls clear through air with a visible gap behind it, which gives a brighter more defined sound. This one uses flat stacked flagstone with moss in the joints, which gives horizontal layered lines and a softer aged look. Choose that one for the cascade effect and this one for a piece that disappears into planting.
Where does it look right?
Woodland and cottage beds, ferns and grasses, gravel with existing stone, shaded corners with mature planting. The moss detail and flat stacking suit settings that are already soft and green. It works less well in a formal clipped bed, where layered irregular stone reads as untidy rather than natural.
Is the moss real?
No. It is a finish detail worked into the crevices rather than living growth, which means it stays put and needs no care. Real moss may well arrive on its own over a few seasons in a shaded damp position, and on this piece it will look entirely at home.
Is it safe around children and pets?
At 40 inches on a 12 inch depth it is narrow relative to its height, so keep it out of the main running route and set it on a level solid surface rather than soft ground. Run the cord along a bed edge so it will not catch a foot, and do not let children climb on the ledges. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.

Set it level

It sits on the floor of the base, not clipped to anything. Bring the cord out through the opening at the back and away toward the outlet.
Fill until the pump is covered, then plug in
Fill first and plug in second, every time. A pump switched on in an empty basin can be damaged in seconds.
The one rule worth remembering
The pump has to stay under water. Everything else on this page is preference, but a pump that runs dry is a pump you replace. In warm weather a basin can drop below the line in a few days, so top it up before it gets close rather than after.
Three habits, and the pump outlasts the warranty.
A fountain asks for more attention than a bird bath, but not much more. Almost everything that goes wrong traces back to one of three things: the level dropped, the intake blocked, or water was left in it through a freeze.
Top it up whenever the level drops. The pump has to stay covered. This is the habit that matters more than the other two put together.
Rinse the pump every few months, and wipe mineral film off the surfaces the water runs over before it sets. A brush and a minute is the whole job.
Drain it before the first hard freeze and store the pump dry indoors. Water left to freeze and thaw is what does the damage, not the cold itself.
