There is nothing on this piece. No carving, no molding, no texture, no color beyond a flat gray. A bowl, a pedestal that tapers slightly toward the base, and a square edge where the two meet. That is the entire design.
What it gives you instead of ornament is the water. A bubbler at the center of the bowl lifts a low dome that spreads outward and comes over the full circumference of the rim at once, so the whole edge is a continuous sheet rather than a set of separate falls. On a piece with no detail anywhere on it, that sheet is the only thing moving and it holds the eye completely.
