Three and a Half Feet on Barely One Foot of Floor
Five clay urns stacked on a stone plinth, each one carved with geometric banding, zigzags and stripes cut into the terracotta surface rather than painted on it. The top urn tips forward and pours into the one below, and the water works down through all five. At 42.5 inches tall on a 13.7 by 12.9 inch base, this is the most footprint efficient piece in the pottery series.
That ratio is the practical argument. Three and a half feet of vertical presence on barely a square foot of floor means it goes where a tiered fountain cannot. A narrow side return, the strip between a path and a fence, a balcony corner, the gap beside a doorway. If the problem you are solving is height without floor space, the proportions here are doing exactly that job.
One detail worth knowing before you buy. There are four lights and they sit in the lower urns only. The top urn is unlit. After dark the piece glows from the bottom up with the highest vessel reading as a dark silhouette above the light, which is a deliberate effect rather than an omission, but it does mean the top of the fountain disappears at night.

Tiered bowl fountains of the same height need two to three times the floor because the lower bowl has to be wide enough to catch everything above it. Setup, Care, and Warranty
Setup and placement
Fill it, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury. At 30.8 pounds one person can manage it, though the height makes a second pair of hands easier.
Level it before filling. On a stacked urn design an out of plumb base sends water over the rim of a vessel instead of into the next one, and on five tiers that compounds all the way down.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the base to cover the pump so it never runs dry. Five open vessels lose water to evaporation faster than a closed reservoir, and a narrow base holds less to begin with, so check every few days in warm weather rather than weekly.
Clear debris from the urn rims. Anything on a lip sends the flow down the outside of the vessel rather than into the next one.
Looking after the carved finish
The carved banding is what makes this read as worked pottery, so wipe it with a soft cloth and keep harsh liquid cleaners and abrasives away from the grooves. In hard water areas a pale film settles into the carving where it is hardest to remove, so clean the wet areas before it builds rather than after.
Winter storage
Before freezing weather, drain every urn and the base completely, disconnect and store the pump, and dry the piece out. Water standing inside a vessel through a freeze and thaw is what damages stacked designs. At 30.8 pounds it comes indoors easily, which is the safest option.

Questions Before You Choose
Which lights are on and which are not?
Four lights in the lower urns. The top urn has none. The effect after dark is a glow rising from the base with the highest vessel dark above it. If you were expecting the whole piece to light, this is worth knowing before you order rather than after.
Where does it fit that other fountains do not?
Narrow spaces. A side return, the strip between a path and a fence, a balcony corner, the gap beside a door. Three and a half feet of height on roughly one square foot of floor is a ratio that tiered bowl designs cannot match, because their lower bowl has to be wide enough to catch everything above it.
Is it real terracotta?
No. It is resin with a terracotta texture and carved banding. Real fired clay at this size would weigh several times as much, would need protecting from frost far more carefully, and would be considerably more fragile in transit. From a few feet away the surface reads as pottery.
Is it safe around children and pets?
At three and a half feet and 30.8 pounds this is tall relative to its weight and stands on a small base, so keep it out of the main running route and away from where a child could pull on an upper urn. Set it on a hard level surface rather than soft ground, and run the cord where it will not catch a foot. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
Every garden has food in it somewhere. Most have no water at all.
None of this is particular to our bird baths. It is true of any backyard, and it is the reason a basin of clean water changes who visits your garden.
Water is used year round
Birds drink and bathe in every season, including the weeks when puddles and shallow ponds are frozen over.
Two inches, no more
Songbirds bathe standing up. A basin deeper than roughly two inches at the centre gets looked at and left alone.
Ten feet from cover
A wet bird is a slow bird. Put the bath near a shrub or a low branch and it gets used; strand it in open lawn and it does not.
Tall enough to be safe. Shallow enough to be used.
Height is not decoration. A pedestal lifts the basin above a cat's easy reach, and puts it at eye level from a kitchen window instead of lost in the planting. The basin slopes as well. It stays shallow at the rim and drops a little toward the centre, so a small bird can stand at the edge and a larger one can stand in the middle.

Still water, or moving water.
Still
Out of the box it is a basin of standing water, which is all most birds ask for. Fill it, change it every few days, done. No cord, no pump, nothing to fail.
Moving
Add a solar fountain kit and the surface breaks. Moving water carries further than a still basin and keeps mosquitoes from settling. It sits in the basin, so there is no drilling and no wiring.
Three habits, and it outlives the garden bed.
A bird bath does not need much. Almost every one that fails does so for one of two reasons. Either water was left in it through a freeze, or a detergent stripped the surface. Avoid both and the rest is rinsing.
Rinse and refill every few days in warm weather. A tip and a hose is enough.
Scrub with a stiff brush and diluted white vinegar when algae shows. No detergent and no bleach, since both leave residue birds will drink.
Empty it before the first hard frost, or keep it moving with a de-icer. Water left to freeze is the one thing the warranty can't undo.
