Simple outdoor setup
Set it level, fill the reservoir, plug it in. Tool free, one person, a few minutes. The plug is a standard US outlet, so measure from the outlet before you commit to a spot or plan on an outdoor rated extension cord. Check that it sits flat before you switch it on, because a narrow body tilted slightly will push water out one side.
Daily and winter care
The reservoir holds between half a gallon and two gallons, so the water level is the thing to stay on top of. Keep enough in it to cover the pump, and check more often in heat, wind, or full sun. Wipe the body with a soft cloth and keep harsh liquid cleaners off the coat.
Before freezing weather, drain it completely, unplug it, dry it, and bring it inside. At 11.9 pounds that is one trip.
How the finish holds up
The coat is what the whole look depends on. Treat scratches the way you would on a garden gate rather than ignoring them, because bare metal under a chip is where trouble starts. Near the coast, salt in the air is harder on a powder coat than sun is, so rinse it more often.

Where will it look most natural?
Beside a door, along a walkway, in a deck corner, between planters, or next to the chair you use in the evening. The test is whether you pass within a few feet of it, and whether you are out there after dark. A wall or fence close by gives the light something to fall on, which makes the pattern read better at night.
Is it a large garden centerpiece?
No. At 9.45 inches across it is built to sit in a corner, against a wall, or tucked between planters as background rather than the main event. On an open lawn it will look thin. If you want something that holds the middle of a yard, look at the tiered concrete fountains instead.
Is it safe around children and pets?
This one is tall, narrow, and light, so it tips more easily than a wide fountain of the same height. Keep it out of the running path and away from where a dog turning a corner would catch the base. Run the cord along a wall or a bed edge so it will not snag a foot. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.

The water level changes it too. A low basin sounds different from a full one, which is why a decibel figure would tell you nothing about your own garden.
It plugs into a normal outlet. That is the whole electrical job.

Set it level
A tilted piece sends the whole flow down one edge instead of spreading it. A paving slab under the base fixes soft or sloping ground.
Sit the pump in the basin
It sits on the floor of the base, not clipped to anything. Bring the cord out through the opening at the back and away toward the outlet.
Fill until the pump is covered, then plug in
Fill first and plug in second, every time. A pump switched on in an empty basin can be damaged in seconds.
The one rule worth remembering
The pump has to stay under water. Everything else on this page is preference, but a pump that runs dry is a pump you replace. In warm weather a basin can drop below the line in a few days, so top it up before it gets close rather than after.
Three habits, and the pump outlasts the warranty.
A fountain asks for more attention than a bird bath, but not much more. Almost everything that goes wrong traces back to one of three things: the level dropped, the intake blocked, or water was left in it through a freeze.
Top it up whenever the level drops. The pump has to stay covered. This is the habit that matters more than the other two put together.
Rinse the pump every few months, and wipe mineral film off the surfaces the water runs over before it sets. A brush and a minute is the whole job.
Drain it before the first hard freeze and store the pump dry indoors. Water left to freeze and thaw is what does the damage, not the cold itself.
