Forty Eight Inches With Only Two Bowls
Three tiers at forty eight inches means three small bowls. Two tiers at the same height means a high upper bowl and a genuinely broad lower pool, and the water gets a longer fall between them. That is the trade, and for a lot of gardens it is the better one, because a wide pool at the base gives the piece a footing that a narrow third tier does not.
Both rims are lobed rather than cut as plain circles, so the overflow breaks at each lobe and comes down as separate curving falls instead of one even ring. The pedestal carries carved leaf work up its length, which is the detail you see from close range while the shape is what you read from across a lawn.
Cast concrete in a weathered multi tone stone finish, which means variation in the surface on the day it arrives rather than a flat gray waiting three seasons to get interesting. It assembles on site in multiple pieces.
