Two Stone Arcs With Nothing Between Them
The negative space is the design. Instead of a solid column with bowls attached, this is two carved stone arcs curving past each other with gaps you see straight through, and four copper glazed bowls held where the curves come close. There is as much air in the outline as there is material.
That makes it read as a sculpture that happens to hold water rather than as a fountain with decoration on it. From the front the arcs frame the bowls. From the side the shape changes completely, because the curves cross at a different point. It is one of the few pieces here that rewards walking around it.
Copper glaze on the bowls against carved gray stone arcs, warm light inside each bowl, and it is rated for indoor use as well. At forty inches on a fourteen inch square it works in an entryway or a room corner, where a wide tiered piece could not go.
