TURTLE GARDEN STATUES
Head Up, Looking at You
The head is raised and turned forward rather than tucked in, which gives the piece an expression. A tortoise with its head down is scenery. One looking up at you is a character.
The shell is painted in yellow green with each segment outlined in dark brown, so the pattern reads clearly from a few feet rather than needing close inspection. The legs are scaled and the feet are cast with visible claws.
Sixteen inches long and low to the ground. It goes beside a doorstep, at a path edge, or in a border where a visitor comes across it rather than sees it coming.
What Makes This Piece Different
- The raised head, which is the whole difference. A tortoise sculpted with its head down is a shape on the ground. This one has its head up and forward, so it seems to have noticed you. That single decision is what makes it a piece people comment on rather than walk past, and it is why it belongs near a doorway where someone meets it face on.
- A painted shell with outlined segments. Yellow green with dark brown between the plates, so the pattern reads at conversational distance. Plain grey concrete needs you to be close before the shell shows.
- Scaled legs and clawed feet. The detail continues below the shell rather than stopping where the interesting part ends, which is where cheaper castings usually simplify.
- Small enough to place anywhere. At sixteen inches it tucks beside a step, under planting or at a path edge. It does not need clearance the way a large statue does.
Near a doorstep, a path edge, the front of a border, half under planting. It works best where someone comes upon it at close range and meets the raised head. Low pieces get discovered rather than noticed, which suits this one.

Setup, Care, and Warranty
Placement
One piece, nothing to assemble. Set it on level ground or bed it slightly into soil or gravel so it sits rather than perches.
Face the head toward the approach. It is the point of the piece.
Keeping the shell bright
The painted segments hold their contrast best out of relentless sun. A soft brush and plain water every few weeks keeps the outlines clear.
Winter
Sealed concrete handles freeze and thaw well when dry. A low piece can end up sitting in a puddle, so check the ground under it drains.
Autumn
Leaf litter buries a sixteen inch piece quickly. Worth lifting it clear or brushing around it through autumn.
3 year warranty
This product includes a 3 year warranty against cracking. Coverage, claim requirements and required documents are subject to the warranty policy that applies at the time of purchase. Keep your order confirmation and contact customer support with your order details if service is needed.
Questions Before You Choose
How does it compare to the giant tortoise?
This one is 16 inches, painted yellow green, a land tortoise with its head raised. The giant is 29.5 inches, unpainted dark grey, and resting flat. Different species, roughly half the size, and a completely different feel.
Which way should it face?
Toward whoever is arriving. The raised head is what gives it character and it only works if someone meets it.
Is it big enough to notice?
Sixteen inches is small, which is deliberate. It is a piece people come across at close range rather than see from the far end of a garden.
Will the paint last outdoors?
It is sealed for year round outdoor use. As with any painted piece, afternoon shade keeps the colour deeper for longer than full sun does.
