Three materials, stacked in the order you would actually find them. Brick at the bottom, because that is what a yard structure sits on. Timber barrels above it, because that is what held the water. An iron pump on top, because that is what moved it. Nothing here is decorative for its own sake, and that is why it reads as a working arrangement rather than an ornament.
The water comes out of the pump spout and works down through all three barrels, so the whole height is doing something rather than just the top of it. Warm light sits inside the barrels, which means after dark the timber glows from within and the pump reads as a dark shape above it.
Thirty two and a half inches on a thirteen by eleven inch base, and the flow is adjustable, so the pour off the spout can be a trickle or a proper stream depending on where it sits.
